Tips for Writing the 2018-2019 Common App Essay Admissions season is now upon us and the Common App essay is once again a hot topic on college and universities forums. I have written an article that explains some useful techniques for writing not only the Common App in particular, but all personal essays for admissions.
Common App essay is supposed to reveal something about you, the applicant. Anyone could write about a better system for college applications, so it doesn't come across as authentic or unique. That being said, I don't think anyone has written an essay on that topic because it is so impersonal.

Based on extensive counselor feedback, the existing essay prompts provide great flexibility for applicants to tell their unique stories in their own voice.
The 2020-2021 Common App Prompts have been released and it’s time to slay the beast that is the 650-word Common Application essay. What’s that, you ask? Oh, just the personal statement you’ll be submitting to any of the hundreds of colleges that use the Common App.
Fundamental Tips for the Common App Essays While different schools may put varying levels of emphasis on the essay, it is your one chance to truly stand out from the crowd. The rest of your application will be filled with numbers: SAT scores, GPA, class rank, years spent in various extracurricular activities, hours of community service, etc.
Why? The Common App essay you write there is sent to basically every school that you apply to. The Common App essay is 650 words, and contains 7 prompts to pick from. (It doesn’t matter which prompt you pick. In fact, I recommend you write your essay first and then choose the prompt to match it.) Here are those Common App prompts.
